Quintessentially Australia, Botanica Australis lends itself well to being a Premium Reed Diffuser. To me, this smells like when you first walk into the florist and smell that "florist" greenery smell - that's the blue gum. It offers a glorious melding of fresh fir needle and leafy green notes with woody musk and sweet jasmine to finish.

Note - this contains jasmine which has been known to affect those who are sensitive to smell. I don't find it over-poweringly apparent that there is jasmine present and I am prone to migraines. All the same I just wanted to make you aware.

This is a strong scent.

Location Recommendation: Everywhere!

We infuse premium oils with the most advanced reed diffuser base on the market in order to bring to you a premium quality product with unparalleled scent throw.

You will see that we use thicker fibre reeds in our range of Premium Reed Diffusers as an alternative to the traditional thinner rattan diffuser sticks. The fibre stick surface is smooth, sleek and straight providing strong liquid absorption for fantastic scent throw for *6+ months.

  • Congratulations! You have just picked up one of our Premium Reed Diffusers. So, what do you do? Where should you put it? How can you get the most out of it?

    Each Premium Reed Diffuser contains:

1 x 200ml Premium Reed Diffuser in a bottle - sealed for travel with a bung.
5 x thick black fibre reeds

    Installation Instructions:

    • Put a towel down or similar to protect the surface of the table or bench that you are working on.
    • Open the box and pull out the cross cardboard keeping the diffuser bottle in place.
    • Take out the reeds and bottle
    • Unscrew the black lid
    • Remove the bung from the top of the liquid bottle by using the back of a spoon to ease it out but take care not to force it as the liquid can spill.
    • Once the bung is out, screw the lid back on and place the reeds in the liquid.
    • Place the Reed Diffuser in your space but take care not to spill the liquid. When placing the Reed Diffuser in your room, take care to keep the reeds free of the wall or curtains as the oil WILL stain all surfaces.

Wipe up any spilled liquid immediately as it WILL stain all surfaces.

    Location:

You will see on each scent a "Location Recommendation". This is purely a suggestion - our Reed Diffusers work everywhere!

When choosing a scent, take into the location and how strong it's going to be. There is little point putting a diffuser in a giant room - it will simply struggle to scent the entire space. You may need more than 1 for the same space.

What if it’s too strong for me?

If you prefer a lighter aroma or you are using the diffuser in a small room, we suggest using few reeds than what has been provided.

Please note that our reed diffusers come with 5 thick fibre reeds. We recommend using all 5, but again this is up to you if you need to use less, do so.

How long will my diffuser last?

Typically, our Premium Reed Diffusers last approximately 6+ months.

This is depending on environmental factors in your space, such as:

    • The airflow around your diffuser. In order for the reeds to "diffuse" the scent, the air must flow around them. Putting the Reed Diffuser in the corner of a large room where the air cannot adequately flow around the sticks will result in only a small space being scented. If the Reed Diffuser is close to a fan, air conditioning or an open window the reeds will soak up the oil faster and can affect the amount of oil, and therefore length of time that the Reed Diffuser "works".
    • If the Reed Diffuser sits in direct sunlight or in front of a heater, this increased temperature can speed up absorption and evaporation of the liquid and reduce the length of time that the Reed Diffuser "works".

How long will my diffuser last?

If you are trying to scent a large room, we recommend using 2 of our Premium Reed Diffusers or an electronic scented oil diffuser (we do not supply these).

My reed diffuser doesn’t smell as strongly as it used to, even though there’s still plenty of oil in the bottle. What can I do?

    • Flip the reeds over - do this over a sink using a tissue or paper towel in order to protect your fingers from smelling awesome all day (they will have an oil residue on them)
    • You can swirl the liquid around to "wake it up"
    • Change it's position in the room

If none of these fix the situation for you and you're at the 6 month mark, chances are that the life of the scent is over and it's time for a re-fill.

You may still have oil in the bottle at 7 months, but chances are it's not looking too good. Chances are that the components have started to breakdown into their natural forms which can result in discolouration and even chunks. It's not nice!

Getting the most out of your diffuser?

The Premium Reed Diffuser works by the reeds sitting in the scented oil and absorbing it up and out of the bottle and it sits on the reeds that are out in the air. Over time, these can dry out and you will not be able to smell the scent as strongly. This is a sign that you need to flip the reeds over.

We suggest that this can be once a week or once a fortnight. However, this is totally up to you. We would not recommend flipping the reeds more often than this as it will speed up the absorption of the scented oil and you won't get the most out of your new Premium Reed Diffuser.

Do you offer re-fills of the scent oil?

Yes, we will be offering re-fills of the scented oil in due time. We suggest that you subscribe to our mailing list or become a site member so that we can let you know when these become available.

Please note that the re-fill will include new reeds.

Can I top up my diffuser with a different scent and use the same reeds?

Short answer, No! Once reeds have been used for a certain scent, you cannot use them for another scent. The scent that is already absorbed into your reeds will mix with the new scent and the mixture will not be pleasant and we highly recommend not doing so.

Can I dilute the oil with water?

Short answer, No! Oil and water do not mix and this will result in a very undesirable product. The reeds can bow by absorbing water and the whole thing just doesn't work.
